British Rail Lion Plaque

This cast iron railway plaque features the famous British Railways "lion on wheel" motif. Founded in 1948, British Railways operated the overgound railways in Britain until privatisation in the 1990's. This sign is handpainted in black, red, white and gold, and features the lion sitting astride a locomotive wheel (nicknamed the "cycling lion"). A lovely piece of vintage-style railwayana, this sign comes with four pre-drilled holes, making it easy to hang on a wall/gate of your choice.
